Change your heart

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Hello everyone it's been a while since I've posted music, so here we go :D

If you saw Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind (and if you haven't I highly recommend it even if it sounds like a cliche). Anyway, in the beginning sequence you hear this lovely song performed by Beck called Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime, from what little I could find online, the song was launched by a band called The Korgis in 1980 (dosen't seem the typical 80's song), let's start with that version.

Now, let's jump to the Beck's mellow version

Zucchero also made his version.

And last but not least (and I know it's not the only cover you can find, but its the last cover I've heard), a version by Krezip (which was actually the version that made me think of this post), I think this one is the cute version of them all :)

Ok, so, which version did you like the most? I think I'd go for Zucchero :)

From Zero to Hero

Friday, March 06, 2009

I just watched Slumdog Millionaire, I guess this would have been better before the Oscars haha, and I know that because of all the brouhaha this post isn't really necessary, so I'll keep it short.

This film was Directed by Danny Boyle (you got to love him for 28 days later, Trainspotting and Sunshine). Co-directed by Loveleen Tandan. The main characters where portrayed by Dev Patel and Freida Pinto.

Due to my lack of true inspiration (and if I send this to Draft it will never see the light of day) I'll just say, at first I totally sub estimated the film, the title didn't appeal to me and I didn't even bother to know who made it. After a while everyone was cheering for it, and eventually became the underdog for the Oscars and came out a winner. So I gave it the chance it deserved. And the verdict is: it's really good, and it deserves to be watched.

The story goes around this uneducated boy who ends up in Who wants to be a millionaire and actually starts winning. How does he know? Well, it's not what you think or at least, it wasn't what I expected. You'll get surprised, you'll be moved, I'm not sure if your laugh or cry (I don't remember laughing and I didn't cry), but in the end I recommend the movie. The story is good, and makes you cheer for the main character, so take a risk if you haven't seen it, Danny Boyle won't let you down ha ha. Enjoy!

Bueno the Bear

This made me laugh so much, I just had to share, Bueno the bear was made by Pendleton Ward, the same guy who brought us Adventure Time. Check out his web page for more info and weird doodles :) enjoy

LIX: Road, Fence and Kitty! Oh my!

Sunday, March 01, 2009

It's been a while since I've posted pics, I think its time I upload something or this will end up being Reviews of Movies and Videos blog, to avoid that, here are some of my latest pics and as you might have noticed in a previous post, there is a cat in the family, and we are all pretty fond of her, so, we bother her and take loads of pics ha ha.

Higway 94, being more specific Tecate/San Diego.

Rusted Metal Fence, I really really liked this pic.

Don't bother me look.

Sleepy time.

Still snoozing.

Baka Neko bothering the cat.

That ain't my kid

I saw the Changeling the other day and I had to write about it.

Let's start from the beginning, this movie was directed by Clint Eastwood, starring Angelina Jolie, Michael Kelly, John Malkovich, among others.

Now, if you are a fan of Eastwood's work as a director, I think this movie will not disappoint you, but be warned its going to be a bumpy ride.

The first time my dad saw the trailer, he couldn't believe Angelina was the woman on screen. To be sincere, I'm not a big fan, but I think that she really pulls off the character.

The plot goes around a mother that reports her missing son and how the police gives her another boy. I don't want to spoil (as always) so I won't go any further. Yet I do share that it gets a little intense. Eastwood does a really good job on getting you involved in the film. In my case, let's just say I had to practice a few breathing exercises during the film because I was getting stressed out (in a good way, I don't know if that exists ha ha, what I'm trying to say is that I got stressed just by imagining how I would feel in her shoes).

And, just in case you are Jolie fan, I think that she looks gorgeous, I loved 20's/30's fashion and the hats, oh you gotta love the hats :D!

Ok, that's enough, I say that if you are in a dramatic mood and want a little mystery, this is a good flick to catch.

What if she never dates?

Okidoki, I just finished watching 10 things I hate about you, starring Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (to name a few), I know, its a teen flick sorta heading to the chick flick scene, but its actually good, the movie came out in 1999 and until now I decided to go for it.

Again, its a teen flick, so don't expect a great memorable movie, yet, I admit, I liked it, and I even think it made it to my fave teen flick films.

Digging a little deeper, the plot goes around two sisters with opposite ways of thinking, and the only way a guy can date one of them is if the other girl goes out, don't freak out, I haven't said anything that you wouldn't find out in the first 15 minutes of the movie (trust me, I checked). The movie is filled with cliches (that is expected). Yet it does have it's high points, it has good music, guys could get some clever ideas on how to enchant a girl and its pretty entertaining. I think it's a good couch potato weekend flick that takes your mind of everyday stuff and takes you back to when your only worry was if he/she knew that you liked him/her.

So go out there and feel like a teenager again ha ha, enjoy!

Obsession

This Oscar Nominated short film by Bill Plympton is pretty odd. You might remember some of his short films from old school MTV (those were the good old days ha ha). Enjoy

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Wow, it's been a while that this blog exists, and now we have reached 600 posts. Thank you all for reading and giving me a reason to share more stuff, because if I knew no one read it, I wouldn't go on with this. So thank you.

Changing the subject to the idea of what this post was about.

Today, I would like to share a speech by Harvey Milk (yes, there was a movie made and it just won Oscars :P, but this is a real speech from the real person), some of you may not agree with the homosexuality topic, I beg you to look a little farther than judging and just take 1:53 minutes of your time, personally, I think we all need to believe that if one person can make a difference, we have the power to do so as well, and that a little hope can make this world a better place.

Thanks NOTCOT.org for the video.

Creepy Radio

Friday, February 20, 2009

I was about to go to bed, when I remembered that I also wanted to mention another movie, its a weird thriller called Frequency, came out in 2000, directed by Gregory Hobbit, wait, I mean Hoblit (couldn't help myself, my bad), starring Dennis Quaid and James Caviezel.

I know what you might be thinking, but bear with me, I know the name doesn't say much, I won't get into details or I will totally spoil the movie, the main concept is, there is a guy who can talk to his dead father through a radio, THERE, haha, I know I know, its not much, but really, I recommend you watch it, it made me sit on the edge of my seat all through the movie making up theories on where the movie will go. In short its a good movie, be a little open minded, don't over analize (or you'll hate it), sit back, relax, and make up weird theories.

The performances are good to get you tangled in the movie, even with the fact that James Caviezel will always be The Count of Monte Cristo to me haha (which is another good movie, long, but very entertaining, anywho, going back). The director seems really into the cop thriller type movies with big actor names, I haven't seen any of them so I really can't suggest more.

Oh well, I liked it so there :P Enjoy!
