Today I saw Barfly, directed by Barbet Schroeder (he made Murder by Numbers), written by Charles Bukowski, starring Mickey Rourke (yep, The Wrestler guy or Marv from Sin City), Faye Dunaway and Alice Krige (she was Christabella in Silent Hill).
To start off, this is not your typical movie. The main character is pretty antagonistic of what I had in mind from the beginning. Since the first scene you like the guy, he has a certain spark that just reels you into his world.
I consider it a drama, but it's not going to make you cry, that's for sure ha ha.
The main idea of the movie is you follow a jack of all trades who lives one day at a time, booze is his main concern and the rest of the world can go about it's business; you see his encounters and the choices he makes. I liked his philosophy, I think that was what made me go through all the movie, I was curious on what he was going to do next.
I think Rourke really did a good job with the character. If you are in the mood for an out of the ordinary drama, this might be a good option. Enjoy!
